The Natural History of Slapton Ley

Welcome to the Natural History section of the website.  Here you can view a wide range of information regarding the history and development of Slapton Ley as a National Nature Reserve, and also how it fits in with the surrounding area and local community.

The Site Description section contains information about Slapton Ley NNR; what's there now, what used to be there, and how the NNR reached it's present state.

The Research Library page links to the FSC Slapton page where you can search our research library and discover the vast range of scientific research that has been carried out at Slapton Ley.

On the Cycleau page you can learn about the Cycleau Project, a project that manages water catchments, such as ours here at Slapton Ley.

The Birds area contains sightings and species lists for those with an ornithological interest.

The Nature Diary is broken down into the four seasons and looks at the flora and fauna you could expect to see during each part of the year.

Wildlife Surveys are an essential part of the work done at SLNNR, and you can see some of the results in this section.

In the Photo Archive section you can view images of just a small section of the extensive wildlife community that is found at Slapton Ley.
